sciencefestivalGet Your Kids Involved in the ASF T-shirt Design Contest and the WEBchallenge

There are two ways you can get your kids involved with the Atlanta Science Festival before it even happens. If your child is an artistic-type, they should consider entering the ASF student T-shirt design contest. If they have web skills, then the TAG-Ed Middle School WEBChallenge might be for them.

ASF T-shirt Design Contest

The Atlanta Science Festival is inviting Georgia students (grades 6-12) to submit a T-shirt design that depicts what science means to them and how science might change their worlds.  Designs must be submitted in digital format only and submitted to tshirt@atlantasciencefestial.org. Entries must be received no later than 11 p.m. EST, on Feb. 9, 2015.

The winner will receive two tickets to the event, An Evening with Neil deGrasse Tyson, at the Fox Theatre on Mar. 24, 2015; an on-stage award presentation during the Festival‘s Exploration Expo on Mar. 28, 2015; and 10 T-shirts for family or friends.

TAG-Ed Middle School WEBchallenge

The competition invites students to design a website that identifies the challenges our community will face in the future, and how science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can be used to address those challenges. Participation is open to all Georgia middle school students in grades 6-8. Teams will consist of 2-4 students with one school-approved adult advisor or faculty member. School organizations, private schools and home schools are also eligible.

The competition is on now and runs until February 16. It’s not too late! Register your team today!
