Transplanted to the United States in 2002, Ting Ying Han has been forced to deal with the dilemma of cultural identity. The works in this exhibition are the physical manifestation of her personal intercultural struggle. Exploring the metaphorical possibility of rice as a material Han uses collective memories, visions, myths and beliefs from her homeland to explore the balance between her past and present life.
