The Atlanta Gallery Association (AGA) is pleased to present ATLart [04]. This citywide event will offer outstanding collaborative exhibitions, lectures, tours and special events from Atlanta’s leading art galleries and museums beginning January 16, 2004 (Patrons only beginning Jan. 14).

Offerings will include Under Different Circumstances, a special exhibition held at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia’s (MoCA GA) exhibition The Georgia 7: seven emerging artists from the state of Georgia; a night of gallery openings, a lecture organized by the High Museum of Art, as well as artists’ receptions, press previews and a variety of alternative art exhibitions spanning a three-week period. FRI (1/16) - Celebrate with the Atlanta Gallery Association Citywide Openings as 29 Member Gallery openings make this night the largest single visual arts experience in the history of our city. From Castleberry Hill to Virginia Highlands to Buckhead, art lovers will see the city’s best commercial galleries. 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

SAT (1/17) - Under Different Circumstances officially opens at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. Afternoon of family events ranging from lectures and activities, to guided tours of the exhibition is planned. The festivities continue through the evening, which is free and open to the public, with a gathering of diverse audiences including patrons and sponsors, collectors, artists, press and gallery owners. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

WED (1/21) - High Museum of Art offers a lecture by Gary Radke, professor of art history at Syracuse University and guest curator of the High's exhibition "Verrocchio's David Restored: A Renaissance Bronze from the National Museum of the Bargello, Florence”. The lecture is titled "More than Michelangelo: David in Renaissance Florence" and is presented by the Livingston Foundation, Inc. at 7 p.m. Symphony Hall. Tickets are available at the Woodruff Center Box office. The High Museum will donate tickets to ATLart [04] sponsors and patrons. FRI (1/23) - The Visual Arts Network of Atlanta (VANA), sponsors exhibitions throughout the city at 20 locations including Swan Coach House Gallery, Georgia State University, Hammonds House and Savannah Gallery. VANA is an association of non-profit exhibition spaces, university galleries, museum curators and independent curators. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

SAT (1/24) - Art Night/Fourth Ward, a one-night event featuring Atlanta’s best from the alternative scene at Saltworks Gallery. From dusk to nearly dawn the most intrepid art lovers and collectors will gather to see site-specific installations in a variety of media and artistic styles created by Atlanta’s most avant-garde artists in conjunction with alternative galleries. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

FRI (1/30) - Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) GA’s exhibition, The Georgia 7: seven emerging artists from the state of Georgia will open to the public. In addition, the public is invited to City Gallery East as they present the 10th Annual Masters Series featuring the work of Lucinda Bunnen. Inaugurated in 1995, the Masters Series features the work of a Georgia artist who has shown outstanding proficiency and professionalism in their chosen discipline. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

SAT (1/31) - Art Papers will feature its annual fundraising art auction, which will be held at the ARTSCooL space at City Hall East. This event will officially close ATLart [04]. PATRON’S EVENT OR TICKETS ARE $10 AT THE DOOR
