The work is entirely photography, all three artists have utilized different types of photo media and manipulate their images differently. The theme summer vacation spurred from the general idea of a summer show and the belief that the exhibition should be all of the things that a summer vacation can be: playful, spiritual, introspective, and most importantly, a departure from the everyday. This departure takes place not only from seeing different things, but also from seeing things differently. Bret Busch introduces digital and Polaroid images, Laura Reynolds shows a series of photographs from her travels in France and Karen Tauches presents photos from Marfa, Texas, that have been manipulated with color and resin.

DESCRIPTION:Neighborhood Planning Units (NPUs) are Citizen Advisory Councils that make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on zoning, land-use and other planning issues.  The NPU System was established in 1974 to provide an opportunity for citizens to participate actively in the Comprehensive Development Plan, which is the City's vision for the next 5, 10, and 15 years.  It is also used as a way for the citizens to receive information concerning all functions of City government.  The system enables the citizens to express ideas and comment on City plans and proposals while assisting the City in developing plans which best meet the needs of different areas.    NPUs meet on a monthly basis to consider community concerns. Membership is open to anyone 18 years or older whose primary residence is within the NPU, or any corporation, organization, institution or agency, which owns property or has a place of business or profession within the NPU. For Artists:   We are looking for artists from all disciplines, who will devise a creative work inspired by or relating to Oakland.  Accepted proposals will not damage the hardscape or landscape of Oakland. They will be mindful of the fact that Oakland is still an active cemetery and spiritual ground for many.  To highlight our emphasis upon site-specificity, all accepted proposals will be showcased with little to no amplification, electrification, or illumination.     For Scholars:   We are looking for creative lectures and presentations from a broad-range of academic disciplines that have an interest in cultural   arts. The ideal presentation would take place on the grounds using one or many features of Oakland as a focal point.  We are not seeking presentations that rely upon electronic media.  All accepted proposals will be mindful of the fact that Oakland is still an active cemetery and spiritual ground for many.     Our Mission:   Arts in the Park is an annual celebration of cultural and artistic endeavors. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday, December 8, 2005, from 6:00 ˆ 8:00 PM you are invited to the Atlanta Inner Core Study meeting at the All Saints Episcopal Church to discuss study alternatives for transit enhancements in the central Atlanta area. The church is located at 634 West Peachtree Street at the corner of West Peachtree and North Avenue, across from the North Avenue MARTA Station.     The MARTA study, which combines the Beltline and C-Loop concepts and hybrids of these concepts, moves to a critical stage of analysis in which citizens will examine evaluation criteria, possible system types including technologies, and station area planning alternatives.  Some of the issues to be addressed at the meeting are highlighted below.     If a new system is to be built in the area:   ·        Where will the transit vehicles run?   ·        What kind or kinds of vehicles will be used?   ·        What kinds of land use development will be employed?   ·        What about parks, bike paths and other greenspace?   ·        Will the environment be protected?  ·        Can engineering challenges be overcome?  ·        Will ridership be adequate?   ·        Will financing plans support such enhancements?      The charrette style meeting will provide an opportunity for attendees to work with professional planners and government decision-makers in moving toward a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) for a transit system in the inner core.  The LPA will include alignments, technologies (types of vehicles), projected ridership, cost estimates and major impacts for such a development.  It will also recommend transit-oriented development for the station area locations.
