The Art Brothers at ZuCot Gallery present, Dignity- Subjectivity of Color.

An examination of societal perceptions of dignity as it relates to race, gender, class and the enduring impact on the contemporary American psyche. Feature artist, Tamara Natalie Madden captures the visceral potency of the black experience through portraits soaked in an active use of saturated colors, layered with didactic tonality. Her perspectives on the perceptions of color (skin) & adornments (crowns) represent how they have been used to shape the understanding of self-worth, atonement, and/or survival. Layered with dimensionality she invites viewers into introspection, while juxtaposing the realities of history’s definition and subjugation of people of African descent.
