Title: Castleberry Hill Update - August 27, 2008 - Loft Tour, Traffic, Public Art and More
|
ADVERTISEMENT Atlanta Needs Your Input to Address its Transportation Needs:
Governor Perdue has announced today a website where the public can give feedback on traffic congestion and other transportation issues as part of his Investing in Tomorrow`s Transportation Today (IT3) effort. People often ask how they can make a difference in these policy discussions - this is your chance.
It takes less than 2 minutes to register your opinion on this issue. Your voice can make the difference.
We won`t achieve action unless each of us demands it. We encourage you to provide your input regarding congestion, transportation funding, and recommendations for addressing transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and roadway access and mobility needs.

Attention Public Artists
Atlanta`s Public Art Program is preparing to re-open the registry for new artists to apply. (Existing Registry Artist do not have to re-apply) The artist`s registry serves as the preferred vendor list for soliciting artists for major and minor public art commissions. The registry also serves to identify artists for direct purchases of artworks and for other various opportunities. The registry is entirely an internet based application and submission process. Artists are able to submit images, resumes, artist statements and DVD all via the World Wide Web.

Faster Mustache is a 24 hour bicycle race starting on September 6 at 12:00 noon at Johnnys Pizza in the Highlands and lasting till Sunday the 7th (first home game opener for the Falcons). Elliott Street Deli & Pub will be one of the check points for this race, which will bring 250 bicycle racers through our neighborhood! They will have it set-up the same way as game day - BBQ and 60" flat screen showing various movies like a Deathrace 2000, Speedracer, and maybe a late night viewing Felix the Cat, while the racers zip by punch in and shoot out or trade riders. They`re also working on some entertainment for that night, blue grass, burlesque, or maybe some D.J. punk and old school. This should be a fun weekend!!! Make sure to join them!
This is the biggest alley cat race in the country (alley cat meaning unsanctioned race). Last year it brought 200 riders, riding a 15 mile route for 24 hours. It has 1-2 man/woman teams and 4-6 man/woman teams. I would say half of the racers are serious and the other half are in it for the fun. Winner last year did 25 laps in 24 hours. http://24.fastermustache.org/
Falcons Home Games @ Elliott Street Game day is here starting Sept 7th and Elliott Street will be open Sundays! They are doing a pretty big set-up for every Home game: 14` Smoker BBQ by Liedel Brothers BBQ (located on the other side of Northside Dr behind Burger King). Great guys really know how to BBQ and do some of the best pulled pork and BBQ chicken I have had! And I`m sure you have heard about the sides he makes from some of the neighbors, made from scratch Mac and cheese, BBQ baked beans and slaw. 60" flat screen showing the games, and a full bar outside with $2.50 16oz bud and budlight drafts. Come out for Game Day @ Elliott Street! www.elliottstreet.com
