It’s time to celebrate!
Central Atlanta Progress, Southwest Airlines, and Project for Public Spaces will gather on Thursday, November 2 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the launch of Woodruff Park’s newest amenities at a Happy Hour event.
Thanks to the Southwest Airlines Heart of the Community program, the park now offers a mobile game cart, new furniture and landscaping features, and reinvigorated seasonal programming – all for the Downtown Atlanta community to enjoy.
This family-friendly event will feature guest remarks from A.J. Robinson, President of CAP/ADID, and other special guests. Remarks will begin at 5:15 p.m., followed by a complimentary refreshments and light bites reception in the park’s gazebo. All are welcome to enjoy the Game Cart’s inventory of board and lawn games, in addition to the live music and photo booth that will be onsite.
Registration for this event is required for the food and beverage portion of the reception. RSVP HERE
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will be hosting the All Star Run (formerly Strong Legs Run) on Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at Georgia State Stadium – Green Parking Lot. This has been an annual event at Turner Field, now Georgia State Stadium for more than 10 years, and an annual event in Atlanta for more than 30 years. It is just being rebranded to change with the times.
The event is a fund raiser for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and they anticipate a crowd of 2,500 to 3,000 runners and walkers.
The event will begin and end at Georgia State Stadium’s Green Parking Lot, with the 5K starting at 9:00am, and the 2K / 1 mile at 10:15am. Each race is a loop through the surrounding area and downtown Atlanta. The description of each route is attached. The last finishers will complete the 2K route no later than 11:00am. During the run/walk, roads along the race routes will remain open to traffic. Off-duty Atlanta Police officers will direct traffic at all intersections along the route. They will hold traffic or detour traffic as necessary to insure the safety of the participants.
If you are interested in participating, sign up here.
