The Billingsley Family Home Rebuilding Fund:

Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall, the Vietnam Veterans of America and residents of Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward have come together to assist a decorated combat veteran and his family recover from a fire that destroyed their 100-year-old home in the Martin Luther King Historic District.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 15, 2007, a fire destroyed the home of David Billingsley, a Vietnam veteran who earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Army Accommodation medals for his service. Billingsley lived in the home with other family members including his nephew Gary.

Billingsley, who was wounded in combat, managed to escape the blaze. Atlanta Fire Rescue officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
